Butzel attorney Claudia Rast featured during Center for Strategic and International Studies fireside chat on October 28, 2022

ANN ARBOR, Mich. –  Butzel attorney and shareholder Claudia Rast will participate in a fireside chat (webcast) on cyber priorities from 11-11:30 a.m. (EST) on Friday, October 28, 2022, hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Rast will join Rob Silver, Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Under Secretary for Policy in the conversation. The program will be moderated by Suzanne Spaulding, CSIS Senior Advisor for homeland security and former DHS Secretary.

The program will include a discussion on Under Secretary Silver’s plans for DHS on strengthening cyber incident reporting processes and mechanisms, the work of the Cyber Safety Review Board, and other recently launched initiatives.

Rast, who chairs Butzel’s Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology Practice Department, blends her expertise in law, business, and science to assist companies in their strategic use of technology, counseling clients in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, data security and governance, intellectual property licensing and registration, and the forensic preservation and analysis of electronically stored information.

Notably, Rast was appointed to a three-year term to co-chair the American Bar Association (ABA) Cybersecurity Legal Task Force in 2020. Prior to that, she had been appointed to successive one-year terms since 2013.

She also is an experienced environmental lawyer, focusing on alternative energy and sustainability practices, including work on the development of a global Rule of Law Index for environment and energy with the World Justice Project.
