GDI Contractors Luncheon
Event Location
Speakers Bill Eshelman and Beth Gotthelf will present an overview of the current state of U.S Export Controls.
The U.S Departments of State, Commerce, Homeland Security, Treasury, Defense, and Energy each play a critical role in export control and nonproliferation activities both within the United States and outside its borders. Under the current export control system, three different USG agencies have the authority to issue export licenses: the Departments of State, Commerce, and the Treasury. In some cases, exporters were required to apply for multiple licenses form separate departments. The goal of the ECR initiative is to create a Single Licensing Agency (SLA), which would act as a "one stop shop" for businesses seeking an export license. This presentation is particularly relevant as the ECR currently is in its latter stages of implementation.
