Butzel Long Senior Paralegals Publish Article in Michigan Bar Journal

DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long senior paralegals Galia Avramov, Myra MacIsaac and Michele Polito published a guest article in the July edition of the Michigan Bar Journal. The article is titled, "Post-9/11 Challenges for the Immigration Paralegal."
The article focuses on changes to the law of immigration since the events of 9/11. The article references that the U.S. Congress enacted at least 19 immigration-related acts aimed at enhancing national security and improving border protection compared to only five new comprehensive acts in the previous 15 years. They co-authored "Going Global" in the March 2001 edition of the Michigan Bar Journal.
Galia Avramov has concentrated on business immigration for the past 11 years. She is fluent in Russian, Bulgarian, and Serbo-Croatian. She graduated from Wayne State University with a BA in sociology, received her paralegal certificate from Oakland Community College, and completed law school at Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Myra MacIsaac has focused on business immigration matters for the past 15 years. She earned a BS from Madonna University's ABA-approved legal assistant program and a BS in social work from Michigan State University.
Michele Polito has worked in the immigration field since 1996. She graduated from Wayne State University with a BA in French language and culture and attended the American Institute for Paralegal Studies.
