DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Gary W. Klotz recently addressed the American Society of Employers (ASE) at presentations in Southfield and Saginaw. The topic of his presentations was the Department of Labor's Revised Regulations for the Family and Medical Leave Act. Due to popular demand, this was the fifth and sixth time he has presented this topic to the ASE.
Mr. Klotz also published a guest article in the January/ February 2009 edition of Michigan Forward, a publication of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. The comprehensive article discussed what President Obama and the Democratic Congress will likely do in the area of labor and employment law.
Additionally, Mr. Klotz recently spoke to the Livingston Area Human Resources Association in Brighton on the topic of "The Future of Labor and Employment Law: What Will President Obama and The Democratic Congress Do?"
Based in Butzel Long's Detroit office, Mr. Klotz has represented employers in labor and employment law matters more than 30 years. He has successfully defended employers in state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal administrative agencies. He also has extensive experience representing employers in labor arbitration cases, collective bargaining negotiations, and "preventive" employee relations counseling.
Mr. Klotz is the author of numerous articles about labor and employment law, and he regularly speaks at management education programs about labor and employment issues. His professional memberships include the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
Mr. Klotz is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D. 1977) and Oakland University (B.A. 1973).
