Gray & Co., the Atlanta-based consultant that manages a $450 million Pontiac pension fund's portfolio, has received a notice of an impending Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement action following an investigation by the agency.

What's known as a "Wells notice" was sent to Gray & Co. in connection with private equity funds in which Laurence Gray, the company's president, is a partner and in which public pension funds the firm represents have invested.
