Travelers' texts, emails searched at Detroit Metro Airport

Jordan is not on President Donald Trump's immigration-ban list, but many passengers arriving from that Middle Eastern country at Metro Airport had an unnerving experience this morning: They had their cell phones searched before they were allowed to enter the country, according to a team of lawyers who were present.
"I was there this morning. All the green card holders were able to get in, but they were going through their phones, their texts, serial numbers and checking their e-mails," said immigration attorney Amir Makled, who was among many lawyers who flocked to Detroit Metro over the weekend in the wake of the Trump's executive order banning travel to the U.S. from seven Middle Eastern countries.
Makled said he spoke to at least six passengers aboard the Royal Jordanian flight, which arrived at Detroit Metro at about 10 a.m. today. Some were nervous while others were scared, he said.
