Butzel Long attorney Robin Luce Herrmann featured during International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors 54th Annual Conference

DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long shareholder Robin Luce Herrmann will be a featured speaker during the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors 54th Annual Conference June 25-28 on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit. Editors across the United States and Canada as well as Australia, Scotland and England, will attend the conference.

Ms. Herrmann will discuss the Freedom of Information Act during a program on June 27. She has been active in the American Bar Association's Media Law Committee and served on the Board of the Michigan Freedom of Information Committee.

Based in the firm's Detroit office, Ms. Herrmann concentrates her practice in the areas of media law, particularly defamation and access issues civil rights and commercial litigation, including RICO. She also has been a contributing author to the Supplements to Rights and Liabilities of Publishers, Broadcasters, and Reporters, (Shepard's/McGraw Hill). Ms. Hermann serves on the Michigan Bar's Publication and Website Advisory Committee. She has been an adjunct professor at Oakland University teaching "The Law of The Press."

Ms. Herrmann has represented employers in state and federal courts in matters involving wrongful discharge, traditional labor issues, and other employment-related claims. For a number of years, Ms. Herrmann served as the Management Co-Chair of the ABA's Antitrust, RICO and Labor Law Committee. She has written and spoken extensively on RICO, including presenting at many ABA Annual and Midwinter meetings. She also has been a contributing author to The Developing Labor Law's chapter on RICO and for the last several years has been chapter co-editor. Ms. Herrmann also currently serves as the Employer Co-chair of the Regional Programs Committee for the ABA's Labor and Employment Section.

Ms. Herrmann is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Metropolitan Detroit Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She also is a Board Member of Community Legal Resources, and a past member and Vice-Chair of the ABA Law and Media Committee. She is the co-chair of both Butzel Long's Pro-Bono Committee, and its Attorney Evaluation and Training Committee. She has also served as a member of the firm's Recruiting Committee.

Ms. Herrmann is a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 1993 graduate of the Detroit College of Law (J.D., (cum laude), where she was a Managing Editor of The Law Review.
