This designation is given to organizations who meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Standard of Excellence for outstanding commuter benefits.
Best Workplaces for Commuters, a voluntary partnership program designed to cut traffic congestion and traffic-related air pollution, recognizes employers that provide environmentally friendly commuter benefits to employees. Offering these commuter benefits identifies Butzel Long as an organization committed to reducing pollution, commuting costs, traffic congestion, and employee stress caused by single-occupant vehicle commuting.
"We’ve had great feedback from our employees particularly in our New York office," said Calethia Binion, Human Resources Specialist, Butzel Long. "Employees are able to utilize pre-tax dollars to pay for their transit needs and parking."
Butzel Long offices in Michigan have had the Best Workplaces for Commuters designation since 2006. However, the designation for the firm's New York office is new this year.
"Employees in our Michigan offices who take the bus or carpool to work comment that it is very convenient and cost-effective," added Ms. Binion. "Our employees who carpool to work enjoy the camaraderie with fellow employees and appreciate knowing they are making a difference to help the environment."
