FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long will receive the Outstanding Partner award during Community Legal Resources’ 9th Annual Recognition event on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Odd Fellows Hall in southwest Detroit. The event will celebrate the best of hundreds of attorneys who committed thousands of volunteer hours to nonprofits across the state this year.
Butzel Long is being recognized for its long-standing pro bono involvement and financial support of Community Legal Resources. Butzel Long attorneys spend hundreds of pro bono hours serving as corporate counsel to Youth Build as part of Community Legal Resources' community partnership program.
Robin Luce-Herrmann, attorney and shareholder, leads Butzel Long's community partnership with Youth Build, which includes more than two dozen attorneys and legal assistants in a variety of practice areas. They provide a range of transactional and litigation assistance to the organization which provides high school dropouts with GED certification while training them in the construction trades.
"Community Legal Resources is truly making a difference in communities across the state," said Ms. Luce-Hermann. "It is an honor to work with such an incredible team of individuals working together to help area nonprofits."
Over the years, Butzel Long attorneys have helped Youth Build negotiate for the acquisition of property to be rehabilitated, cleared improper property tax calculations, and provided tax advice. Butzel Long attorneys drafted an employee manual and advised on employment matters. They amended and updated the organization's bylaws, provided advice on contracts and fundraising activities, and advised on the organization's long-term strategic planning effort.
