Military bond motivates attorney to organize team to participate in Tough Mudder event June 29 at Michigan International Speedway
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DETROIT, Mich. – People who have served in the military share a common thread, a lifelong bond and a keen interest in helping others. George B. Donnini, an attorney and shareholder at Butzel Long who also served in the United States Marine Corps, has organized a team of attorneys from various law firms across metro Detroit to participate in the Tough Mudder event on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Michigan International Speedway.
The event benefits the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which honors and empowers wounded warriors. WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members.
Tough Mudder is an endurance challenge designed by British Special Forces and consists of a unique 10-12 mile trail run over rugged terrain, featuring steep inclines, water hazards and 18-25 military-style obstacles that are intended to display toughness, fitness, strength, stamina, mental grit and teamwork. The Tough Mudder event takes place in various cities across the U.S.
“I’ve organized a team of local attorneys who also are prior active duty military to participate in the Tough Mudder event,” said Donnini, who served as a Judge Advocate for the United States Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003. “A friend of mine who I served with was injured while deployed to Iraq (shot by an enemy sniper). He is an inspiration to me and a major motivation in my desire to help wounded warriors.”
In addition, Donnini is part of a group of local attorneys involved in forming the Detroit chapter of the Veteran’s Bar Association, to gather for networking and mentorship.
“It is an excellent opportunity for lawyers who served in the military to join together for professional development, networking and camaraderie,” added Donnini. “The group is just forming, but it is an honor to bring together a group of attorneys from metro Detroit who served in the military.”
Based in Butzel Long’s Detroit office, Donnini’s practice is focused on white-collar criminal defense, antitrust investigations, SEC enforcement actions and also routinely entails corporate internal investigations. He also served as law clerk to The Honorable William H. Pauley III, United States District Court, S.D.N.Y., New York, New York from 1998 to 1999.
Donnini is a 1995 phi beta kappa graduate of The George Washington University and a 1998 graduate of the Duke University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Michigan (2003), California (2000) and New York (1998).
