Top government contracts attorney Ira E. Hoffman, joins Butzel Long law firm

Attorney’s practice areas also include international law, commercial litigation and cybersecurity

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ira E. Hoffman, an attorney who has practiced law for more than 30 years, has joined Butzel Long’s Washington, D.C. office as Of Counsel. Hoffman focuses his practice on government contracts, international law, commercial litigation and, more recently, cybersecurity issues.

Hoffman’s government contracts practice includes conducting bid protests, size protests, and claims, and advising clients on a wide range of other issues, including teaming agreements, subcontracting, intellectual property rights, M&A, cost allowability, ethics and compliance, audits and investigations, the False Claims Act, suspension and debarment, security clearances, and small business issues including 8(a), HUBZone, SBIR, SDVO, and WOSB small businesses; his international practice focuses on international contracting and compliance issues, such as export controls (both ITAR and EAR), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions.

At the same time, Hoffman’s cybersecurity practice focuses on liability for security breaches, M&A due diligence, IG investigations, and strategies for mitigating cyber risk.

Hoffman earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1983, where he also served on the Law Review. Moreover, he earned an M.Sc (Econ) at the London School of Economics in 1975, where he also taught. Hoffman earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1973.
