Butzel Long Completes Major Clery Act Internal Investigation and Publishes Nationally Cited Report

DETROIT, Mich. – In a case that has drawn national media attention, Butzel Long recently completed a ten week internal investigation regarding Clery Act compliance at Eastern Michigan University and published a 500-plus page report of its findings. Butzel Long was retained by the EMU Board of Regents to conduct an independent investigation after University administrators' handling of the tragic death of a student on campus raised questions about the University's compliance with the federal Clery Act. The Clery Act is intended to foster safety and security on college campuses by requiring universities and colleges to provide certain disclosures and warnings regarding crimes on campus.
