Butzel named to Crain’s 2021 Cool Places to Work
DETROIT, Mich. – It comes as no surprise to Butzel employees that the firm has been named to Crain’s 2021 Cool Places to Work, ranking 44th (and the highest ranked Detroit-based law firm on the list).
What makes Butzel stand out as a cool place to work?
- The firm provides profit-sharing opportunities;
- New attorneys are matched with a mentor within the firm; and,
- Butzel recently updated its technology offerings and is currently updating its offices
Moreover, Butzel’s male/female executive ratio is 50/50 and employees get paid time off for community service, to name a few.
“Recognition as one of Crain’s Cool Places to Work is a testament to our employees themselves, and the culture and working environment they have helped to create and sustain,” said Justin G. Klimko, President and CEO. “We strive to foster a workplace where our employees can be challenged, derive a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, and enjoy the collegiality of their co-workers. This in turn maintains our single-minded focus on meeting our clients’ needs.”
How Crain’s Cool Places to Work are chosen:
For the ninth year, Crain’s Detroit Business teamed up with Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., which produced the ranking of Cool Places to Work. Michigan companies with at least 15 employees could participate. First, the employer provided detailed information on its benefits and policies; next, its employees answered questions about workplace culture, company leadership and other aspects of work in a confidential, 77-question survey. The survey was taken between March 26 to April 23.
The survey sought to determine whether employees understand the long-term strategy of the company and whether they feel they have opportunities to advance within its ranks, accounted for 75 percent of the final ranking, while the combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Companies paid for the survey; not all companies that applied were chosen as a cool workplace.
Some companies named to Crain’s 2021 Cool Places to Work have offices outside Michigan; for those companies, even non-Michigan employees were surveyed in order to provide a comprehensive view of overall company policies and culture. Other than total U.S.-based employee counts, all data is Michigan-specific.
