Overview
Primarily focusing her practice in general litigation, Amber counsels and represents clients in Family Law and Family Office matters, including family estate planning. She is experienced in working with professionals in the financial and insurance disciplines to create estate plans that will achieve her clients’ desired goals. Amber’s experience encompasses succession planning for business owners and wealth transfer planning.
Ms. Peters has considerable experience in domestic relations to include divorce, custody, child support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and more. Known for her compassionate yet no nonsense approach, she has obtained efficient resolution of myriad domestic scenarios, including where the issues were high-stakes and contentious for the parties involved. She also has notable experience in civil and criminal litigation. She has previously represented municipalities in the authorization and prosecution of ordinance violations and trials in a variety of courts.
Amber is a Shareholder practicing in Butzel’s Southwest Michigan office. Prior to joining the firm, she practiced at a large Michigan firm with locations throughout the state. She began her career at a criminal defense firm in metro Detroit.
Ms. Peters received her juris doctor from Wayne State University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from Bethel College (cum laude). She clerked at the Family Division of the Wayne County Circuit Court, the largest circuit court in Michigan, for the Honorable Muriel D. Hughes.
Amber has been recognized by leading legal publications as an emerging lawyer to watch in the areas of Family Law and General Litigation. She has strong ties to the Southwest Michigan community and frequently gives of her time to a number of area organizations.
