Butzel is pleased to announce that Heather Muir has joined the firm as a Summer Associate in the Detroit Office.

Overview

Heather is currently a 2L at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she is a member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates, Co-Founder of the Cyber and Privacy Law Student Association, and Vice-President of the Hispanic and Latinx Law Student Association. She previously worked as a law clerk at a full-service law firm that specializes in Estate Planning, Business Law, and Education Law where client representation ranged from individuals and small businesses to municipalities and charter schools.

Heather received her bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College in 2021, majoring in Economics. While there, she competed on the NCAA Women’s Collegiate Golf Team and studied at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan.

Before entering law school, Heather explored the realm of Immigration Law while working as a paralegal. In this role, she assisted attorneys in handling matters involving cancellation of removal and asylum applications for individuals and their families and a wide range of business immigration matters for corporate clients.

Outside of law school, Heather enjoys staying active through golfing, rock climbing, and practicing yoga. She also enjoys getting her hands on anything creative such as painting, DIY home projects, and flower arranging. Her interests extend to learning languages. Heather has native fluency in Spanish and Portuguese and is conversationally proficient in French and Japanese.
