William M. Engeln is renowned for his deep experience serving clients in general Corporate and Business Law matters. He has practiced for over four decades and includes estate planning, formation of corporations and limited liability companies, and handling transactional real estate matters among his areas of specialty. Bill focuses on each client as an individual, identifying the best strategy to obtain the desired results particular to each individual or entity’s objectives and goals.

Overview

Bill Engeln represents individuals, closely-held businesses, and trusts. He assists clients with corporate governance, business management, and transition planning. He drafts and negotiates a variety of business contracts for clients in myriad sectors, including asset and stock acquisitions. He additionally handles matters including bank financing for businesses, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, and probate and trust administration.

Mr. Engeln has been a prominent member of the St. Joseph community for many years. He has represented multiple generations of business owners in the same family. Although he began his legal career in Chicago, he has practiced in Michigan for more than 35 years. He has served on the boards of several community organizations, including those dedicated to historic neighborhood preservation and the arts.

Bill is Of Counsel practicing in the firm’s Southwest Michigan office. Prior to joining Butzel, he was engaged with a large firm with offices located throughout Michigan. He received his juris doctor, cum laude, from Northwestern University Law School, a Masters graduate education in Political Science from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Washington State University.
