Overview
Aaron Kamlay has guided numerous startups from inception and initial investment through public offerings and direct acquisition. He has successfully defended his clients from patent infringement allegations by both competitors and non-practicing entities. He also advises clients in preparing patent portfolios for sales and in evaluating portfolios for mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Kamlay has advised on deals totaling over $10 billion. Recent clients include multiple Fortune 100 companies, global leaders in the enterprise software, automotive, and flat-panel display fields, and disruptive startups focusing on energy production, storage, transmission, and commercialization and unmanned vehicles.
Mr. Kamlay is a Shareholder practicing in Butzel's Washington D.C. office. Prior to joining Butzel he founded Morris & Kamlay, which specialized in strategic portfolio design, patent acquisition, and licensing for 10 years. Before that he worked at IP specialty firms in New York and San Francisco. He graduated from Vanderbilt University (J.D.) and the University of Evansville (B.S. Physics).
